HAIR TIPS FOR GROWING HEALTHY RELAXED HAIR:

1- WATER TEMPERATURE

The ideal temperature for washing your hair depends on your hair type and personal preference. However, using warm water rather than hot to avoid stripping your hair of natural oils is generally recommended. For black women, lukewarm water is often recommended to prevent dryness and breakage.

2 - SHAMPOO:

When it comes to shampooing black women's hair, there are a few things to keep in mind. First and foremost, choosing a shampoo specifically formulated for our hair type is important. Look for moisturizing, sulfate-free products and natural ingredients like coconut oil or shea butter.

Additionally, avoid over-washing your hair, as this can strip it of its natural oils and cause it to become dry and brittle. Finally, remember to follow up with a good conditioner to help keep your hair soft, silky, and healthy.

3- CONDITION:

Use a moisturizing conditioner to help keep the hair from drying out. Also, use a leave-in conditioner; it provides moisture for your hair and protects it from damage. Make sure to be careful when detangling the hair. Use a wide-tooth comb to detangle.

IMPORTANT:
Definitely use a conditioner after shampooing your hair. Some people think just because the shampoo said conditioning, that they don't need a conditioner- that is not true: BE SURE TO CONDITION.

4- MINIMIZE THE USE OF HEAT APPLIANCES:

Don't kill your hair with excessive use of the blow dryer. You should refrain from overusing flat irons, curling irons, and blow dryers.

Don't overuse heat appliances.

Even though they help you achieve beautiful styles, overuse can cause the hair to dry out and start breakage. If the hair falls off your head, you won't be able to style it anymore.

Therefore, start healthy hair habits before it's too late. Try getting an Updo style, such as a donut, bun, stuffed twist, sew-ins, etc., to give your hair a break from the heat appliances.

5- ELIMINATE OVER-PROCESSING:

Try not to over-process your hair by getting relaxers or permanent color before it's enough new growth. Premature chemical services are not healthy for the hair.

Most people wait at least 6 weeks between relaxers. There are some that can go longer with proper conditioning and moisturizing of the hair, but be careful and love your tresses.

If you just got a relaxer, wait at least 2 weeks before getting permanent color. Please don't overprocess those beautiful tresses. Getting a professional to do these chemical services is best because they are trained properly.

6- TRIM HAIR:

Trim older, drier hair every few months or as needed to reduce split ends. Trimming split ends will allow it to be healthier as it grows. Just as a plant needs pruning, your hair needs trimming to keep the hair growing healthy and long.

There is a difference between trim and cut, but if you don't examine the ends and keep them neatly trimmed, eventually, you may need a cut. Therefore, let's take preventive measures and maintain healthy hair by trimming the split ends.

7- GET PROPER NUTRITION:

We all need proper nutrition for our bodies to function right. Our hair also needs proper nutrition, as well. You may wonder what vitamin deficiency causes hair loss and breakage?

Well, we need various vitamins for hair health and growth, such as

  • protein
  • biotin
  • vitamin A
  • & other vitamins.

If our bodies have an inadequate amount of these vitamins, the hair may start to starve & deteriorate. You should get your nutrition for hair breakage from a nutritious food source. Drink plenty of water. Try eating fruits & vegetables every day. If you are still not getting enough, talk to your doctor about the best vitamin supplements.

8- EXERCISE:

We must keep our body in shape, not only for the body to look good but for it to function correctly, as well. If our bodies are sickly, the hair will become sickly as well.  There are various types of fitness routines, such as yoga, cardio, etc. You should reap the benefits of exercise by finding a great workout routine for your healthcare needs from your doctor.

So properly condition and moisturize the hair, eat right, exercise, get hair trimmed, minimize heat use, as well as eliminate over-processing.

You can do it. You know the saying, "LONG HAIR, DON'T CARE"! With these tips in mind, you'll be well on your way to beautiful, healthy hair!  Enjoy your day !!!
